History
Lucian Scott Garoff was born on November 2, 2342. From a little boy, Admiral Garoff (retired), instructed his son in every aspect of battle strategies. At age 7, Lucian could win almost every chess game he played anybody, except of course his father. At age 11 he decided that he wanted to join Starfleet like his father, and, much to his father's delight, Lucian dove deeper into the strategic arts. Lucian went as far as even missing many recreational sports to increase his strategic abilities.

At age 18, Lucian entered Starfleet academy and immediately excelled. He wasn’t afraid of speaking his mind to cadets that were on or below his level. He was the best in almost all of his classes, being the student that knew most of the answers, but for the sake of others, wouldn’t always give it. He could out wit anyone and never lost a battle during his holographic tests. One of which was a battle where he and his class was placed on board an Intrepid class and were told to beat back 2 Romulan Norexan Classes. At the start of the battle the cadet on command brought the ship around, showing them the aft section. He was trying to get them to follow and get confused while he reached a near by moon and fired from behind it. But the ‘Romulans’ had anticipated that and began firing at, totally collapsing the shuttle bay and damaging the Starboard nacelle. Lucian, unable to contain his anger at the incapable cadet, took control and ordered the ship be brought about. He then ordered to bring the ship below both ships, while the first ship engaged the Intrepid the other ship was stoic. He fired phasers at the first and had the Intrepid prepare thrusters to escape the Romulan ship on a collision course. Then at the last minute he fired the starboard thrusters down and the port thrusters up, effectively making the ship do a barrel turn. With the Rolumans confused they were easily crippled. Now Lucian ordered that the ship was going on a collision course with the other Romulan ship at its head. He held his bluff until the last minute when the Romulans ever so slightly moved back. He then used this opportunity to fire everything at the area behind the Romulan ship’s head, thus snapping the bridge from the rest of the ship. His instructors were so impressed they gave him even harder tests in which he surpassed their expectations in every aspect.

In 2371 Lucian graduated with honors from Starfleet academy and began his first assignment was on an Intrepid class, no less. He was on board the USS Aries on its maiden voyage, he was given the rank of Ensign and was a Strategic Officer. On board he preformed admirably but the Aries was placed in an area of space that hadn’t seen battle in a while, and it didn’t during Lucian’s time there.

Then came the Dominion Wars. One of Lucian’s old professors, Captain Hogan, remembered Lucian’s ability and immediately set his ship on a direct course for the Aries. When he arrived he gave the captain a PADD about some crew transfer, and Lucian was one of Hogan’s personal picks. Lucian was now on the USS Charleston, and Excelsior Refit class.

The Charleston was involved in many Dominion encounters, in which Lucian was used almost constantly. But this was all apart of Hogan’s plan, he saw something special in Lucian and immediately wanted to nurture it and watch it flourish. Onboard the Charleston Hogan gave Lucian many tests to asset his abilities and then made Lucian the Chief Strategic officer. The Charleston was involved in seven separate battles with Dominion vessels. Although generally this attacks were Dominion Attack ships one battle in particular involved a Dominion Battlecruiser. During the fight, the bridge was struck and Captain Hogan was thrown and became unconscious. Lucian then transported the captain to sickbay, put out a ship-wide hail for the Executive officer, and took temporary command. The then used the Charleston’s slightly superior maneuverability to get behind and under the Battlecruiser. With the weaker weapons in that section, bolstering the shields and firing enough to take-out their warp core was a lot easier than it sounded. With the Charleston able to escape before the shockwave, he set a course for the nearest starbase and began to sit down in the captain’s chair. The second he touched it the Executive officer walked onto the bridge. When Lucian gave his report to the captain, Lucian was instantly promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

About a month later, the Charleston was informed by captain Sisko that Operation Return was successful and that the Federation was planning a final push on Cardassia, and they would need Hogan’s leadership skills. The crew was to be transferred to the USS Paris, a Nebula Class, and immediately used in the upcoming battle. The Paris was in the heart of the battle. It was mainly used for support where other vessels couldn’t cut it. The Paris had to rush to a ship’s aid until they could hold their own then head to the next ally in distress, which happened quite a lot. But then one of the Galaxy classes was ambushed and it was up solely to the Paris to provide support. They arrived just in time to assist in the destroying of three Battlecruisers. Due to Lucian’s expert knowledge in dealing with these, Captain Hogan allowed Lucian to take command. Lucian, wanting to show Hogan first hand what he could do, preformed his best and utterly destroyed the three Battlecruisers. As the battle progressed the Cardassians proved their ability in battle, to Lucian anyway, while they covered the Paris’ aft section. Due to them doing their jobs, Lucian had a newfound respect for Cardassians. Once the battle was over the heavily damaged USS Paris, managed to limp back to Federation space and the crew was transferred to other ships, but not before he was given the rank of full Lieutenant.

Lucian was then transferred to the USS Yorktown, a Constitution Refit class. Although the ship was aging and Lucian was not sure why he was posted on board, he preformed his duties admirably for a number of years until he received a message from his father and, now Commodore, Hogan. They informed Lucian that he was to now promoted to Lieutenant Commander and was going to be given his first command. Elated and a bit nerves to hear the news, Lucian headed immediately back to Earth to learn more about the issue from his Father himself.

After a few days of catching up with his father they took a trip to Starfleet Command. They took a shuttle to the orbital shipyard and saw Lucian's first ship. It was a magnificient ship, it was a Norway class, it was one of the most unique looking ships in Starfleet, and that only made Lucian love it more. As they passed around the front and Lucian read out loud "USS Saigon, NCC-79103" then turning to his father "current commanding officer, Commander Lucian Garoff."

After a full tour of the Saigon, Lucian wished his father well and he immediately began his duties to get it out of drydock as soon as possible.
